The NEUMES Project, main
Homepage for the NEUMES Project, an interdisciplinary research project to design an Internet-based software infrastructure
for digital transcription of chant music notations, covering Gregorian chant, Byzantine neume notation, and ekphonetic notation.
Goals: a diplomatic facsimile of the source manuscript can be viewed; data can be shared across applications and platforms;
and search or comparison of melodic patterns is computationally feasible. Free licensing for non-commercial, educational, and
cultural uses.
Le but du Projet est de concevoir et de construire une infrastructure informatisée
pour la transcription et la description de manuscrits de chant médiéval des sources occidentals et byzantins.
Le but recherché est de disposer d'une représentation uniforme permettant l'affichage, la recherche et l'analyse
par ordinateur.
Gegenstand dieses Projekts ist die Entwicklung einer Software-Infrastruktur für die
digitale Transkription und Beschreibung mittelalterlicher Handschriften von mittelalterlichen Gesängen aus westlichen
und byzantinischen Quellen. Das Ziel ist eine normierte Methode, mit der der Inhalt von Handschriften mit dem Computer
betrachtet, durchsucht und analysiert werden kann.
Ο σκοπός του προγράμματος είναι να σχεδιαστεί και να χτιστεί μία
υποδομή λογισμικού γιά την ψηφιακή μεταγραφή και την περιγραφή των
μεσαιωνικών ψαλτικών χειρογράφων. Ο στόχος είναι ένας ομοιόμορφος
τρόπος με τον οποίο το περιεχόμενο των χειρογράφων μπορεί να
διαβάζεται, να ερευνάται και να αναλύεται με τον υπολογιστή.
El fin del Proyecto es de concebir y de construir una infrastructura informatizada para la
transcripción y la descripción de manuscritos de canto medieval de fuentes occidental y byzantino.
El fin que se persigue es de disponer de una representación uniforme que permita su visualisación,
la búsqueda en ellos y su análisis por computadora.
Scopo del Progetto è definire e realizzare una infrastruttura software per la trascrizione
digitale e la descrizione dei manoscritti musicali medievali delle fonti occidentale e bizantino. L'obiettivo è la creazione
di una risorsa uniforme.che permetta, tramite computer, di visualizzare, interrogare e analizzare il contenuto dei manoscritti.
Onderzoeksproject voor het ontwikkelen van een Internet-gebaseerde software-infrastructuur
voor de digitale transcriptie van de muzieknotatie van Gregoriaanse gezangen, gezangen in Byzantijnse neumen en in
ecfonetische notatie. Doelen: er kan een diplomatische facsimile van de bronnen worden bekeken; data kunnen worden
uitgewisseld tussen applicaties en platforms, en zoeken en vergelijken van melodieën is computationeel haalbaar.
